Forklift Driver / Storeperson – 2IC (Engineering Workshop)

We’re seeking an experienced Forklift Driver / Storeperson to join our busy structural steel workshop. This role acts as Second-in-Charge (2IC) to the Operations/Warehouse Manager, ensuring yard and dispatch operations run safely and efficiently.
A current forklift licence is required for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklifts safely in a steel yard/workshop
- Load/unload long, heavy steel and fabricated components
- Coordinate site dispatch, including over-dimensional loads
- Maintain yard organisation and traffic flow
- Ensure load restraint and transport compliance
- Step up as 2IC and lead toolbox talks when required
What You Bring
- Valid forklift licence (essential)
- Proven experience in structural steel, fabrication, mining, or heavy transport
- Confidence handling long, awkward loads in high-risk environments
- Strong safety awareness (SWMS, load restraint, incident reporting)
- Ability to coordinate lifts, truck movements, and urgent material flow
- Calm, practical leadership with a hands-on attitude
