Electrical Designer – Switchboards

Location: Granville
Hours: Up to 38 hours per week, 7am start
Rate: Casual up to $60ph + Super

About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Designer to be part of a small but dynamic business.

Reporting directly to the GM Switchboards, you will work closely with the workshop and field team, design and estimating lead.

This is a hands-on role where you will take ownership of the drawing development process from start to finish, ensuring projects meet technical standards and supporting both field and workshop teams.

What you will be doing

• Prepare accurate electrical schematics, termination diagrams, and GA drawings from technical specifications.
• Coordinate design development with the team and workshop supervisor, taking proactive measurements and practical considerations.
• Apply knowledge of electrical systems, modular switchboard systems, busbar, and sheet metal options to design practical layouts.
• Manage design documentation and ensure quality assurance.
• Provide hands-on support to switchboard building or construction teams when needed.
• Assist with broader business tasks to keep operations running smoothly.

What we are looking for

• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Good knowledge of AS3000 standards.
• Previous experience in electrical design/drafting and compliance amendments.
• Background in building and assembling switchboards.
• Ability to work independently and within a team.
• Strong communication skills with electrical staff.
• Confidence in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
• Self-starter with effective workload management.
• Good command of English for client liaison.
